The spine, known as the vertebral column or spinal column, is a column of 26 bones in an adult body — 24 separate vertebrae interspaced with cartilage, and then additionally the sacrum and coccyx. The spine plays an extremely important role in our bodies as it supports the upper body’s weight; provides posture while allowing for movement and flexibility; and protects the spinal cord.
The spinal cord undergoes a lot of severe clinical problems-can bend abnormally, fracture or can have a tumor, spinal pain, nerve compression, age-related spinal stenosis, etc.
Some of the anatomical problems include:
Joints, ligaments, or bones themselves may be injured, nerve roots that go to the arms and legs may cause irritation or pinching sensation sometimes, Inflammation or degeneration can cause pain, disc space between vertebrae may be painful in some cases.
For every medical condition, diagnosis is important to understand the issue related to a specific disease. To start with diagnosis, the doctor will evaluate the patient clinically and physically in detail with X-ray, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), CT scan, Nerve conduction velocity testing — EMG/NCV, blood test, etc.
