The spine, known as the vertebral column or spinal column, is a column of 26 bones in an adult body — 24 separate vertebrae interspaced with cartilage, and then additionally the sacrum and coccyx. The spine plays an extremely important role in our bodies as it supports the upper body’s weight; provides posture while allowing for movement and flexibility; and protects the spinal cord.

Spine surgery can take from 3 hours to 7 hours. How much time procedure will take depends upon the number of vertebrae involved or damaged.

Healing is usually 2-3 months after surgery. Some cases recovery time is longer than usual like 6 months to 1 year depending upon condition of patient.
