(Lt Gen) Dr. C. S. Narayanan is a highly respected neurologist with over 45 years of medical experience and is currently the Chairman of the Manipal Institute of Neuro Sciences at Manipal Hospital. He has served the nation for decades through the Armed Forces Medical Services and is known for his calm approach and deep knowledge. Dr. Narayanan completed his MBBS and MD in Medicine from Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, and later specialized in Neurology with a DM from AIIMS, New Delhi, one of India’s top medical institutes. Over the years, he has treated thousands of patients with neurological problems and has played a key role in developing advanced neurological care in India.
His main areas of expertise include epilepsy (with video EEG monitoring), stroke treatment, migraine and headache disorders, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord problems, and nerve disorders. He also uses advanced tests like NCV and EMG to accurately diagnose nerve-related conditions, helping patients receive the right treatment at the right time.
He has been a supporter of e-health and telemedicine and has worked on projects to deliver modern healthcare to places that are hard to reach. He was a part of the team that introduced deep-brain stimulation, an important development in neurological therapy, to the armed forces.
