Based on the shared reports, the patient has osteogenic sarcoma of Right Tibia.
Osteogenic sarcoma (osteosarcoma) of the tibia is a malignant bone tumor that usually begins near the knee in the proximal (upper) tibia. The production of immature bone characterizes it and frequently presents with persistent localized pain, joint swelling, and reduced range of motion.
We will need to perform some investigations to confirm the disease, staging of disease, or any metastatic sites if present, and plan a definitive treatment plan accordingly.
Investigations needed: The patient would need to undergo detailed physical and clinical investigations, which would involve a combination of PET CT and Fresh Biopsy, MRI, Cancer markers, blood tests, and other routine tests.
Possible line of Treatment: The final treatment plan will be shared after complete clinical and physical evaluations of the patient.
In case the tumor is limited and has not spread further, the patient will initially require Limb Salvage surgery with reconstruction and implants.
In case the disease has spread to the other bones or other surrounding tissues, the patient would require 8-10 cycles of chemotherapy in addition to the surgery, depending upon how aggressive the tumor is.
Limb salvage surgery is an advanced procedure to remove cancerous tumors or severe infections while avoiding amputation, utilizing metal prostheses, bone grafts, or expandable implants to replace missing bone. The primary goal is to eliminate the disease while preserving the limb’s strength, mobility, and aesthetic appearance.
Chemotherapy is a systemic cancer treatment that uses powerful medicines to destroy cancer cells and prevent them from growing and dividing. Because it circulates through the body, it can target cancer cells almost anywhere, though it may also affect fast-growing healthy cells.
Kindly note: The advised treatment plan is solely based on the reports shared with us; the final line of treatment will be decided after the patient’s arrival only.
