Aggressive Vertebral Hemangioma Cyberknife Surgery

Clinical Case Report: Case study of 38-year-old female from Iraq suffering with Aggressive Vertebral Haemangioma and Spinal Cord Compression suggested for CyberKnife Surgery in India

According to the medical reports shared with us, the patient is suspected to have aggressive vertebral haemangioma at Level T5, causing severe spinal cord compression. Additional smaller, non-compressive hemangiomas are suspected at multiple levels, including C4 and C7 (cervical spine), T1, T11, T12 (thoracic spine), and L2 (Lumbar spine).

Aggressive hemangioma is a rare, benign, yet rapidly growing vascular tumor of the spine that causes vertebral expansion, significant structural weakening, and neurological deficits due to spinal cord compression.

We will need to do some tests to confirm the diagnosis, staging of the disease, and possible spread to other parts of the body.

Investigations required: He will need to go through MRI (with contrast), CT, Biopsy, DSA, blood investigations, and other routine examinations.

Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) is a specialized, minimally invasive fluoroscopy technique that uses X-ray technology and contrast dye to create detailed images of blood vessels, primarily to diagnose vascular conditions.

Possible treatment plan: The final treatment plan will be determined after complete investigation outcomes. In all possibilities, the patient would require CyberKnife surgery to treat the hemangiomas.

Cyber-Knife is a non-invasive robotic radiosurgery system used to treat cancerous and benign tumors throughout the body with sub-millimetre precision.
