Over the years, he has gained strong expertise in adult heart surgeries, including coronary bypass surgeries using both traditional and advanced techniques. He is skilled in performing off-pump bypass surgery, which is a method where the heart continues to beat during surgery, reducing complications. He also performs multi-arterial bypass surgery, which helps improve long-term results for patients.
Dr. Prashanth is recognized for his work in minimally invasive heart surgeries, such as Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery and MICS CABG, a smaller-cut bypass surgery that helps in faster recovery. He regularly performs heart valve repairs and replacements, ensuring that patients get the best possible treatment for valve-related heart disease.
He is also trained in aortic surgery, where he treats problems of the body’s main artery using both traditional methods and modern hybrid/TEVAR techniques. In addition, he has experience in highly advanced procedures like robotic heart surgery and TAVR/TAVI, which is a minimally invasive method of replacing a damaged heart valve without open-heart surgery.
Dr. Prashanth also handles some of the most critical heart care procedures, including heart transplantation, extracorporeal life support, and LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) support for patients with severe heart failure.
Apart from his clinical work, he contributes to hospital committees as a Member of the Audit Committee, AMSP Committee, and IQAC Committee, helping maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and quality.
