Dr. Anurag Shrimal has achieved several remarkable milestones in the field of transplantation. He performed the world’s first composite vascularised liver and abdominal muscle transplant in an adult. He was also the first surgeon in India to successfully perform living donor liver surgery after weight-loss surgery. Another major achievement includes performing a liver transplant using India’s youngest neonatal donor, who was only 5 days old.
He led Western India’s first and largest series of pediatric and adult swap liver transplants and also performed Western India’s first ABO-incompatible pediatric liver transplant. Dr. Shrimal was part of Mumbai’s first successful simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant. With a 98% success rate in liver transplantation, he is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and skilled transplant surgeons in the country.
