Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease with Unstable Angina

Clinical Case Report: 64 Year-Old Algerian Male Patient Coronary Artery Disease & Unstable Angina Revascularization Options CABG Surgery or Angioplasty

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, typically caused by plaque buildup (cholesterol). 

Unstable angina is a medical emergency characterized by sudden, worsening chest pain that occurs at rest or with minimal exertion. This arises out of situation when the heart does not get enough blood supply and resultant oxygen.

Investigations Needed:

Patient will need to be investigated with regular tests along with an angiography to confirm the diagnosis. Coronary Angiography (CAG) a coronary angiogram is a special X-ray test. Coronary angiography is a procedure that uses a special dye (contrast material) and x-rays to see how blood flows through the arteries in your heart.


Possible line of Treatment: After the outcome of the investigations patient may need either –

Angioplasty with 2 stents OR Coronary Bypass surgery

Angioplasty is a medical procedure that opens up a blocked or narrowed artery around the heart. It is a standard treatment for narrowed or blocked arteries in this area of the body. Doctors also refer to angioplasty as percutaneous coronary intervention, or PCI.

Stay in India: The patient will require 2-3 days for initial evaluations on an OPD basis. In case of CABG, Mr. Patel will require 6-7 days of hospitalization including 2 days in ICU. The post-discharge patients may require 12-15 days to follow up on an OPD basis. Total Length Stay in India will be approx. 4 weeks.

On Arrival: 

Patient will be received at the airport by our Representative. Apart from the medical and nursing team, one Case Manager will take care of all the needs. We shall also assist them with reasonably charged accommodation near the hospital. They may prepare USD 30-50 per day towards accommodation in the guest house after discharge from the hospital.
