As indicated in the shared reports, the patient has a lesion in the right parietal lobe with surrounding oedema. The lesion extends to involve the splenium of the corpus callosum. The tumor is suspected to be a high-grade glioma.
Additionally, he has a medical history of Hypertension and Diabetes mellitus and reports ongoing headaches.
The right parietal lobe is a critical region in the brain’s right hemisphere, located behind the frontal lobe and above the temporal lobe.
The splenium of the corpus callosum is the back part of the “bridge” that connects the left and right sides of your brain.
A glioma is a common type of primary tumor that originates from glial cells in the brain or spinal cord, acting as “glue” for nerve cells. These tumours can be cancerous (malignant) and are classified by grade (I-IV) based on aggressiveness, with high-grade gliomas growing rapidly. Common symptoms include headaches, seizures, and vision changes.
We will perform confirmatory testing on arrival to determine disease stage and assess for metastatic spread.
Evaluations required: The patient will need to undergo detailed physical and clinical evaluations, including a PET-CT scan, MRI Scan, Biopsy, molecular marker testing, visual field testing, sensory checks, blood tests, and other related investigations.
Possible line of treatment: Mr. Sylvesto will require craniotomy and tumor excision surgery.
Craniotomy and tumor excision is brain surgery to remove a tumor by temporarily removing part of the skull (craniotomy) for access, then excising (removing) the growth, followed by replacing the bone flap, aiming to relieve symptoms and improve prognosis by removing as much tumor as safely possible.
Kindly note: The advised treatment plan is based solely on the reports shared with us; the final treatment plan will be decided only after clinical and physical evaluations upon your arrival.
