Clinical Case Report: Case of 23-year-old man from Iraq with Right Radial Nerve Motor Neuropathy with Wrist Drop suggested for Radial Nerve Reconstruction with Tendon Transfer Surgery

The patient is an operated case of Fracture correction for the proximal shaft of Humorous. Post-recovery, she has now shown Right Radial Nerve Motor Neuropathy with wrist drop.

Radial nerve motor neuropathy is damage to the radial nerve, causing weakness or loss of function in the muscles it controls, primarily leading to a “wrist drop” by affecting the ability to extend the wrist and fingers.

Possible line of Treatment – She will now need surgery – Radial Nerve Exploration with Nerve reconstruction and Distal Nerve transfer or Tendon Transfer.

Radial nerve reconstruction involves surgical repair using nerve grafts, nerve transfers, or tendon transfers, with the best method depending on the injury’s severity and characteristics.

Tendon Transfer surgery involves detaching a healthy tendon from its original attachment point and reattaching it to a bone or another tendon to compensate for the non-functioning muscle and tendon unit.

Length of Stay: The patient will require 2-3 days for initial investigations on an OPD Basis. For surgery patient needs to stay in hospital for 3-4 days, post discharge patient may require 10-15 days for follow up and recuperation. Total stay in India will be approx. 3 weeks.

The Patient and her attendants will be received at the airport by our Representative. Apart from the medical and nursing team, one Case Manager will take care of all the needs. We shall also assist them with reasonably charged accommodation near the hospital. The Patient and attendant may arrange 30-35 USD per day for accommodation at a guest house.
