Medical Case Report: A Case of Kenyan Male Patient Suggested for Bone Grafting along with ORIF for Distal Femur Fracture caused by gun shot

Patient is suffering from Gun-shot wounds. One shot was hit in the stomach and one shot hit in the distal femur. He was taken to local healthcare facility where a stomach bullet was taken out and colostomy was done. For the shot in the femur bone a wound debridement was done.

He currently has a gun-shot trauma induced distal femur fracture which needs to be addressed.

Investigations needed to get the current status of Wounds – An MRI, CT Scan, X-Ray, Routine Tests and physical examination.

Possible Line of treatment – ORIF procedure for Femur Fracture correction with Bone Grafting will be offered to the patient.

An ORIF (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation) operation is a two-part orthopedic surgery used to repair severe, displaced, or complex bone fractures. The surgeon makes an incision to manually realign the broken bone pieces (open reduction) and secure them using metal hardware like plates, screws, or rods (internal fixation)

The estimated cost of evaluations will be approx. USD 600-800 on OPD basis.

Stay in India: Patient will require 2-3 days for initial evaluations on an OPD basis. The patient will require 3-5 days of hospitalization for ORIF surgery. He will need 2 weeks of rehab before flying back home. Total Length Stay in India will be approx. 3 weeks.

4.      The stay of patient and 1 attendant during hospital admission.

Exclusions:

1.       Any consultation other than in discussion
2.       Extended stay

4.       If & when the patient is shifted to ICU (Intensive Care Unit) then attendant has to vacate the room and shift to a Guest House near the Hospital

On Arrival:

Patient and his attendants will be received at the airport by our Representative. Apart from the medical and nursing team, one Case Manager will take care of all the needs. We shall also assist them with the reasonably charged accommodation near the hospital.  Patient and attendant may arrange 35-50 USD per day toward accommodation and food at Guest House.
