Dr. Brig (Prof) KS Brar VSM is a highly respected doctor who serves as the Head of Department and Consultant in Adult & Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology. With over 18 years of experience, he is known for his expertise in treating hormone-related conditions in both children and adults.
Dr. Brar completed his MBBS from the University of Pune in 1992, followed by an MD in General Medicine in 2000, and then earned his DNB in General Medicine in 2001 from the National Board of Examination. Over the years, he has built a strong clinical and academic career in the field of endocrinology.
He treats a wide range of conditions, such as diabetes, thyroid problems, growth disorders in children, early or delayed puberty, adrenal and neuroendocrine disorders, bone health issues like osteoporosis, obesity, cholesterol disorders, and heart-related complications in diabetic patients.
Dr. Brar is also an active member of several medical associations, including the Endocrine Society of India, Indian Thyroid Society, Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India, and the Association of Physicians of India. He is also a fellow of the Society for Advanced Studies in Medical Sciences, the College of Chest Physicians (India), and a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
Throughout his career, Dr. Brar has received many honors for his dedication and excellence. He was awarded the Vishisht Chikitsa Medal (VCM) in 2003. His research work on vitamin D deficiency and hip fractures earned national recognition and was awarded as the second-best original paper by the Association of Physicians of India in 2008. He is also widely respected as a teacher and examiner for MD and DNB programs across different universities.
One of his biggest achievements includes receiving the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) twice, first in 2014 and again in 2022, making him a recipient of the Bar to VSM, an honor given for exceptional service in the field of endocrinology. He has also been awarded commendation cards from the Chief of Army Staff, CISC, and GOC-in-C for his outstanding contributions. In 2015, he received the International Sardar Patel Award for excellence in endocrinology. His name was also featured in “Who’s Who in the World” (2013) by Marquis World Publications.
