Dr. Rashmi Mittal is a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon at Amrita Hospital. She received training from the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA. She completed her master’s degree in ophthalmology from Christian Medical College in Vellore, where she was awarded the gold medal and the “Best Outgoing Student” title. She has also completed all FICO steps in the United Kingdom and has achieved her Diplomate in National Board (DNB) in Ophthalmology.

Her major clinical interests include corneal transplantation, infectious keratitis, and keratoconus, as well as phacoemulsification and LASIK. She has received extensive training in ocular surface reconstruction procedures such as amniotic membrane transplantation, stem cell surgeries in the eye (SLET), mucous membrane grafts (MMG), and artificial corneal transplantation (keratoprosthesis) for complex ocular surface diseases such as ocular chemical burns, Steven Johnson syndrome, and ocular surface squamous neoplasia.

Dr. Rashmi has presented multiple papers, posters, and films at national and international conferences. She has published multiple papers in international peer-reviewed journals and is particularly interested in cornea and ocular surface reconstruction research.
