Dr. Anil Kumar Dharmapuram is the Senior Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon at KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad. Dr. Anil Kumar holds degrees in MBBS, DNB, and MCh from AIIMS. He received cardiac surgical training at the famous All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
His professional experience includes working as a specialist pediatric cardiac surgeon at Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Dr. Anil Kumar improved his talents in pediatric cardiac surgery with additional training as a Clinical Instructor at Lucille Packard’s Children’s Hospital, Stanford University, California, USA, where he learned from internationally recognized surgeons.
His experience includes performing a variety of pediatric cardiac surgery procedures, with a special focus on difficult disorders such as transposition of great arteries (TGA), TAPVC, and ALCAPA, among others. He specializes in redo-pediatric cardiac surgery and has extensive experience conducting single ventricle repairs on a beating heart without the need of cardiopulmonary bypass.
He specializes in the primary and single-stage repair of intracardiac abnormalities with concomitant arch blockage in neonates and babies, using selective cerebral perfusion procedures. Dr. Anil Kumar has helped to develop breakthrough approaches in pediatric cardiac surgery, such as a novel approach to tetralogy of Fallot repair that preserves the native pulmonary valve and avoids cutting the annulus.
His academic achievements include numerous scientific publications in national and international journals, as well as scientific paper and poster presentations at national and international conferences.
