What is Thyroidectomy?

A thyroidectomy is a surgical procedure where all or part of the thyroid gland is removed. Thyroid gland is butterfly shaped located in the front of your neck. Instead of making an incision on the neck, the surgeon accesses the gland through underarm (trans axillary) or behind the ear (retro-auricular, thus avoiding visible scarring.
