Treatment of Pituitary Lesion

Pituitary Lesion giving rise to Hydrocephalous – Treatment in India – Sample Opinion for Medical Case Received // Case Number – OP/2025/7908 // Mr. DX // Mozambique

Diagnosis: According to a shared report, the patient is suffering from Pituitary Lesion giving rise to Hydrocephalous.

Pituitary Lesions or Adenomas are benign tumours on your pituitary gland. They’re noncancerous, but they can interfere with normal pituitary function and cause certain health conditions.

Macroadenomas can put pressure on the pituitary gland, on nerves, on the brain and on other parts of the body nearby. That can cause symptoms such as: Headache. Eye problems due to pressure on the optic nerve, especially loss of side vision, also called peripheral vision, and double vision.

In this case, they are giving rise to Hydrocephalous, i.e., blocking the cerebral spinal fluid to get drained out and increasing the intracranial pressure.

Evaluations: The patient will need to undergo detailed Clinical investigationswhich includes MRI-Brain, EEG& other related investigations to confirm the treatment plan.

Treatment Plan: The patientneeds to undergo detailed evaluation and based on the results of the evaluation further line of treatment will be decided. The patient may require the Excision of Tumour Surgery using an endoscopic nasal surgery (Trans-nasal Trans-sphenoidal Endoscopic surgery (TNTS).

In this surgerythe surgeon uses an endoscopic to enter through the nasal area to excise the tumour. It is one of the latest methods of removing such tumours. It leaves no scars and the surgery site heals very quickly.

Kindly note: The advised treatment plan is solely based on the reports shared with us; the final line of treatment will be decided post clinical and physical evaluations of the patient on arrival only
