Nephrotic Syndrome Sample Opinion

Nephrotic Syndrome Treatment in India – Sample Opinion  // Case Number – OP/2025/2910 // 14 years old male // Uzbekistan

Case Summary: According to the shared medical reports, including doctor’s notes and diagnostic findings shared with us, Master AM, a 14 years young boy from Uzbekistan, is a case of Nephrotic Syndrome, possibly in relapse, as per the ultrasound findings and clinical symptoms such as body swelling and excessive protein loss in urine.

We have discussed the case with eminent Pediatric Nephrologists from the leading hospitals on our panel in India.

Nephrotic Syndrome: It is a kidney disorder that leads to excessive protein loss in urine due to damage in the filtering units of the kidneys. This causes fluid retention, swelling around the eyes, feet, and abdomen, and increases the risk of infections and blood clots. If untreated, it can lead to progressive kidney damage.

The unusual symptoms of urinary incontinence and body swelling, coupled with the fact that chemotherapy has been advised, suggest that this case may have complexities beyond routine nephrotic syndrome. This makes it important to re-establish a full and precise diagnosis before any definitive treatment plan is pursued.

Investigations Needed to Confirm the Diagnosis and Plan the Treatment:

Master AM will need to undergo detailed physical and clinical investigations, including:

These tests will help confirm the nature and extent of kidney damage and whether there is an underlying autoimmune or genetic condition. Post these investigations, we will be in a definitive position to suggest a suitable line of treatment.

Possible Line of Treatment / Plan: After completing all investigations and establishing a diagnosis, Master AM will require advanced medical management for Nephrotic Syndrome. The goal will be to:

  • Control protein loss and swelling
  • Manage any immune system irregularities
  • Improve kidney function
  • Build overall immunity

If the kidneys are found to have suffered severe damage, then a kidney transplant may be required in the future. However, this would be a later step depending on how the disease progresses and how he responds to medical management.

Kindly note: The advised plan is based solely on the reports and preliminary findings shared with us. The final treatment process will be determined only after the patient’s physical and clinical evaluation upon arrival in India.
