Ascending Aortic Aneurysm with Ventricular Hypertrophy and Diastolic Dysfunction

Clinical Case Report: Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR) for Ascending Aortic Aneurysm in a 62 years old female Patient from Ethiopia with Ventricular Hypertrophy and Diastolic Dysfunction

As per the shared medical reports, suggest that the patient is diagnosed with Ascending Aortic Aneurysm with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Grade 1 LV Dystolic Dysfunction.

An Ascending Aortic Aneurysm is a life-threatening weakening and abnormal bulging of the first segment of the aorta, the main artery carrying blood from the heart. 

Ventricular Hypertrophy is the thickening of the heart’s lower chamber walls, typically the left ventricle.

Diastolic Dysfunction occurs when the heart’s lower chambers (ventricles) become stiff and cannot properly relax during the filling phase of a heartbeat.

Investigations Needed to confirm the diagnosis–

She will need Coronary Angiogram or Magnetic Resonance Angiogram, CT scan, ECHO, ECG, and other routine tests to confirm the diagnosis.

Possible line of treatment–

She may need an Endovascular Aortic Repair Surgery. 

Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for the ascending aorta, often referred to as ascending Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR), is a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery for high-risk patients. It involves placing a stent-graft via catheter, usually to treat aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, or dissections, although open repair remains the standard. The procedure allows for faster recovery but requires specialized anatomical considerations.

Stay in India: Patient will require 1-2 days for initial evaluations on an OPD basis.

For Surgery- Patient will require 5-7 days of hospitalization for surgery. Post-Discharge she may require 10-15 days for follow up and recuperation.

We shall also assist them with the reasonably charged accommodation near the hospital. You and attendant may arrange 35-50 USD per day toward accommodation and food at Guest House.
