Dr. Ramji Mehrotra gained knowledge of the principles of early surgery, specific surgical techniques, complete intraoperative care, and the importance of intensive postoperative therapy, including the use of mechanical heart support (ECMO) during resuscitation and one-stage correction of complex congenital diseases. In Mumbai, India, he performed the first successful arterial procedure. Using bilateral mammary arteries, he performed the first total arterial revascularization at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.
