Spindle Cell Tumour Pelvic Mass Chemotherapy Targeted Therapyspindle Cell Tumour Pelvic Mass Chemotherapy Targeted Therapy

Clinical Case Report: Treatment Modalities like Chemotherapy, Targeted Therapy / Immunotherapy for Medical Oncology Case of 52 Years Male Patient from Azerbaijan for Pelvic Spindle Cell Tumor with Retroperitoneal

The patient has been diagnosed with Spindle Cell Tumour, mostly concentrated in the Pelvic Region in the form of a large Mass. Further, the cancer has shown its presence in the retroperitoneal area as well. There are some nodes in the lungs, but we do not yet know if the presence is an extension of the disease. We will need to confirm this.

A spindle cell tumour is a type of neoplasm characterized by long, narrow, spindle-shaped cells, which can be benign or malignant (sarcoma or carcinoma). They often arise in soft tissue, bone, or the skin. Symptoms include painful or painless lumps, swelling, and reduced mobility.

We will need to do some tests to confirm the diagnosis, staging of the disease, and possible spread to other parts of the body.

Investigations needed – PET-CT, Biopsy, Molecular Studies, next-generation sequencing, Cancer markers, blood investigations, and other routine investigations to confirm the above diagnosis and treatment plan.

Treatment Plan – The final treatment plan will be shared after complete clinical and physical evaluations of the patient.

In all possibilities, the patient may require 4-6 Cycles of Chemotherapy.

Additionally, depending upon investigative outcomes of the molecular study and NGS study, if any mutation is detected, we will need to add targeted therapy. Else, he may need Immunotherapy along with Chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses one or more anti-cancer drugs as part of a standardized chemotherapy regimen. Chemotherapy may be given with a curative intent, or it may aim to prolong life or to reduce symptoms.

Targeted therapy is a cancer treatment that uses drugs to target specific molecules on cancer cells. These molecules control how cancer cells grow, divide, and spread.

Immunotherapy is a treatment that uses the body’s immune system to fight cancer, infections, and other diseases. It can also be used to treat allergies.

The cycles of Chemotherapy will run once every 2 weeks. Thus, it may take between 12-15 weeks to finish the treatment.

Kindly note: The advised plan is solely based on the reports shared with us. The final line of treatment will be decided post the physical and clinical evaluations of the patient on arrival only.
