What is Coil Embolization?
Coil embolization is a substitute treatment, which means that an aneurysm with the help of an angiographical endovascular procedure includes carrying platinum coils. It is a procedure which positions a stent at the aneurysm and inserts a coil in the bulge vessel of the blood. The coil creates an aneurysm-treating coil.
What are the symptoms leading to doctor’s recommending – Coil Embolization?
- Presence of an Aneurysm in the brain needs a cold embolisation procedure to get treated.
Evaluations for Coil Embolization
- CT scan
- X-rays
- MRI
- Cerebrospinal fluid test
Treatment for Coil Embolization
Under general anesthesia, embolization is performed. Once the anesthesia is given, a catheter is tied throughout the groin into the aneurysm through the blood vessel. The catheters are rather small. It’s comparable to cerebral angiography, except that these small catheters are placed close to the aneurysm and platinum coils inserted into the aneurysm to embolize it. It is a small process that shows aneurysm. When the metal coil has been correctly placed, it springs into place within the vessel. The extension of the metal coils stays firmly in position. On the coil, a blood clot will form, totally obstructing the unusual circulation of blood beyond the coil. A scar is formed to create a permanent seal.
