This procedure is provided to attempt and avoid AVM bleeding. Bleeding can cause a stroke to damage the surrounding brain with a potential lasting disability or even death. Headaches, seizures, and progressive paralysis can also be caused by AVM’s, and treatment may relieve such symptoms. In this procedure, the glue or other non-reactive liquid adhesive materials are injected into the AVM to prevent it. A tiny catheter goes to the blood vessels which are supplied to the AVM via a groin vessel for this reason.
