Ovarian Cancer with Lung Metastasis

Medical Case Report: A Female Patient from Botswana with Ovarian Cancer with Metastasis to the Lungs Recommended for Chemotherapy, Targeted Therapy / Immunotherapy

Findings – The patient is a diagnosed case of Ovarian Cancer with Metastasis to the lungs. Ovarian cancer with metastasis to the lungs would mean that the disease may have started in the Ovaries but has spread to the lungs through the bloodstream. In this case, it is fairly present in one side of the lung, meaning that it may spread very fast to the other side of the lung and to other organs. In such a case, we must take very fast action to prevent the growth.

We will need to do some tests to confirm the diagnosis, stage the disease, and assess possible spread to other parts of the body.

Investigations needed – PET CT, Biopsy Review, Molecular Studies, Cancer markers, blood investigations, and other routine investigations to confirm the above diagnosis and treatment plan.

Treatment Plan – The final treatment plan will be shared after complete clinical and physical evaluations of the patient.

In all possibilities, the patient may require 4-6 Cycles of Chemotherapy.

Additionally, depending upon investigative outcomes of the molecular study, if any mutation is detected, we can add targeted therapy. Otherwise, she may need Immunotherapy along with Chemotherapy.

The cycles of Chemotherapy will run once every 2 weeks. Thus, it may take between 12-15 weeks to finish the treatment.
