Dr. Samanjoy Mukherjee is a highly respected heart specialist with over 33 years of medical experience. He currently works as a Consultant in Cardiac Sciences and Senior Interventional Cardiologist, and is known for his calm approach, and deep knowledge.
He completed his MBBS from the University of North Bengal in 1991, followed by an MD in General Medicine from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in 1994. To further specialize in heart care, he went on to earn his DM in Cardiology from the University of Delhi in 2001. Over the years, this strong educational background has helped him handle even the most complex heart conditions with confidence.
Dr. Mukherjee treats a wide range of heart problems. These include blocked heart arteries (coronary artery disease), heart valve problems, congenital heart defects present since birth, irregular heartbeats, heart failure, and weak heart muscles. He also manages conditions affecting blood vessels outside the heart, such as peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease.
In terms of procedures, he has vast experience in coronary angioplasty and stenting, where blocked arteries are opened to restore blood flow. He performs advanced treatments like balloon mitral valvulotomy for valve narrowing, device closure for holes in the heart, and pacemaker and CRT implantation for rhythm disorders. He is also skilled in electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency ablation to correct abnormal heart rhythms, as well as rotablation for complex and heavily calcified blockages. In selected cases, he has also worked with stem cell therapy for cardiomyopathy, offering hope to patients with advanced heart weakness.
