Dr. Pradeep Rao is a highly experienced urologist with over 34 years of medical expertise in the field of renal sciences and urology. He is currently working as the Director and Senior Consultant of Renal Sciences at Gleneagles Hospital.
Dr. Rao completed his MBBS from Grant Medical College and Bombay University in 1989. To further strengthen his surgical skills, he earned the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Surgery from Edinburgh, UK, in 1995. He also holds the Membership of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS) in General Surgery and Urology, awarded by the National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
In 2001, he completed a Diploma in Laparoscopic Urology from the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France, gaining advanced training in minimally invasive techniques. He later became a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS) in Urology in 2004. In addition, Dr. Rao has received extensive sub-specialty training in endourology, laparoscopic and robotic urology, paediatric urology, reconstructive urology, and uro-oncology, allowing him to treat complex urological conditions with precision.
Dr. Rao specializes in the treatment of a wide range of kidney and urinary problems. His areas of expertise include prostate laser surgery, kidney stone treatment, endourology, renal transplant procedures, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, single-port nephrectomy, and advanced laparoscopy. He also treats urinary tract infections (UTIs), stone disease, and vascular access issues. With strong expertise in urology and urological oncology, he performs complex cancer surgeries, including robotic and minimally invasive procedures, helping patients recover faster with less pain.
He is actively involved in the advancement of modern surgical techniques and is a member of the LESSCAR working group, which focuses on guiding and improving the future of single-port surgery.
