Prof. Dr. Nagamalesh U. M. is a highly respected and experienced heart specialist with over 30 years of experience in cardiology. He is currently working as the Lead Consultant in Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology at Aster Hospital, Bangalore. He also serves as the Director of the Heart Failure, Heart Transplant, and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program at Aster Hospitals, Bangalore, where he plays a key role in treating patients with advanced heart conditions.
Dr. Nagamalesh completed his MBBS from the University of Mysore, followed by an MD in Cardiology from JSS Medical College, Mysore. He further strengthened his expertise by earning a DNB in Cardiology from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
He specializes in treating a wide range of heart problems using both medical and advanced interventional procedures. His areas of expertise include cardiac ablation for irregular heartbeats, cardiac catheterisation, cardioversion, coronary angioplasty and implantation of ICDs (implantable cardioverter-defibrillators). He also has extensive experience in handling complex and emergency conditions such as acute aortic dissection, and is deeply involved in interventional cardiology and heart transplant procedures.
Dr. Nagamalesh received the Chairman’s Award from Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty at Narayana Health for his outstanding work in developing a successful Heart Transplant Program. He has also been honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from JSS Medical College, Mysore.
He is an active member of several prestigious national and international medical organizations. He is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, and Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology. He is also associated with the Cardiology Society of India, staying closely connected with advancements in heart treatment worldwide.
